BACKGROUND NOTE: 1 and 2 Chronicles cover the same time period as 2 Samuel and 1 and 2 Kings. However, 1 and 2 Chronicles are not a mere repetition. While 2 Samuel and 1 and 2 Kings give a political history of Israel and Judah, 1 and 2 Chronicles present a religious history of the Davidic dynasty of Judah.
