John chapter 10 contains one of Jesus' most famous statements: "I and the Father are one." This text is often cited as evidence of the Trinity. What do you think Jesus is saying? When the Jews heard this statement, they picked up stones to stone Jesus, accusing him of claiming to be God.

Jesus' response contains another very interesting statement. In his answer to the Jews' accusation, Jesus quotes Ps. 82:6, "Ye are gods." Can you explain Jesus' argument? Are there multiple "gods"? See what Ryle has to say about this exchange between Jesus and his fellow Jews.

These are the technical notes by J. C. Ryle that accompany his expository comments on John chapter 10.
