Notes on 21:18-25

After having breakfast by the sea with his disciples, Jesus asked Peter three times, "Do you love me?" Following this exchange, Jesus tells Peter that he would die a martyr's death. Then Peter, referring to John, asked Jesus, "But Lord, what about this man?" Jesus replied, "If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you?" What did Jesus mean by this?

These are the technical notes by J. C. Ryle that accompany his expository comments on John chapter 21.
